Wetherby (25) v Leos (5) (away) - Sunday 30th September 2007
Wetherby U13s started the season in
good style, beating Old Leodensians comfortably by 25 points to
5.
Despite missing their captain and stand-off, Wetherby over-awed
the opposition through a strong forward performance. Jake
Taylor was a big physical presence as pack leader, man-of-the
match Ben Filler showed aggression not seen last season and Mike
McNamara was a constant threat from number eight.
In the backs, Ashley Brook looked lively and Owen Jackson
stood-in to good effect at fly-half, linking well with strong
running centre Benj Pitt who was Wetherby’s main attacking
threat. Pitt scored two tries and had a hand in a third,
the other two tries coming from Taylor and McNamara.
